Tuesday of week 10 in Ordinary Time
First reading – 2 Corinthians 1:18-22
“…with him it was always Yes…”. In this small paragraph we can see something fundamental. St. Paul is underlining the fact of life in Jesus Christ. All the promises of God in the Old Testament are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. So, our response to God in Jesus Christ can never be “No” but only “Yes”. St. Paul is even underlining it, “many the promises God made, the Yes to them all is in him. That is why it is ‘through him’ that we answer Amen to the praise of God”. The relationship of God to us is assured in Jesus Christ. In other words, in Jesus Christ, our relationship with God is concrete and final. The Word of God is even stating the proof of this. “Remember it is God himself who assures us all, and you, of our standing in Christ, and has anointed us, marking us with his seal and giving us the pledge, the Spirit, that we carry in our hearts”. The Holy Spirit we receive in the sacraments is the proof of our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit, that we carry in our heart is the pledge of the constant relationship of God with us. Let’s reflect: Am I able to say “Yes” always to God based on our relationship to God in Jesus Christ?

Monday of week 10 in Ordinary Time
First reading – 2 Corinthians 1:1-7
the God of all consolation, who comforts us in all our sorrows, so that we can offer others, in their sorrows, the consolation that we have received from God ourselves”. In this verse, we can see how the relationship of God to us is and what does it mean. God is God of all consolation, who comforts us in all our sorrows. God is with us in all our sorrows. He is gentle with us in all difficult situations in our life. This is beautiful. But this relationship does not stop there. The Word of God says, this love of God the Father has a purpose. The purpose is that we can offer others, in their sorrows, the consolation that we have received from God. We are called to offer others the consolation which we receive. The consolation which we receive from God should flow through us towards others. It cannot stop at us. Let’s reflect: How much am I sharing the consolation which I receive from God the Father with others?

See, with all my heart I give myself to you,
because before such a miracle I am only poverty.
This year we celebrated Holy Mass together with the residents of our home in the most beautiful weather in our courtyard. It is a beautiful experience every time to meet God in the sacrament and in His nature.
Everyone prayed and sang with gratitude.
Many memories of the past were awakened and very interesting conversations about the traditions of the past took place.
Eyes, mouth and hands deceive you,
but the message of the Word reveals you to me.
What God the Son has spoken, I accept with faith;
he himself is the truth that cannot deceive.

10th Sunday in Ordinary Time
First reading – Hosea 6:3-6
“Let us set ourselves to know the Lord”. This is very beautiful. The prophet Hosea is asking to make a foundation for our life. We have to prepare ourselves with a disposition to know the Lord. A disposition by which we can know who the Lord is. This disposition is not for any other motive or selfish interest but to know who the Lord is. The Lord is going to come like as the dawn. He will rise like the light. And we should be prepared to welcome him. More than that, to know Him. We need a real opening of our hearts to know him. It is not enough our love like a morning cloud that disappears. And the Prophet speaks exactly how we must have the disposition to know the Lord. “What I want is love, not sacrifice; knowledge of God, not holocausts”. It’s the not the sacrifices without love that is needed but it is the love that’s needed. When the Lord says, “what I want is knowledge of God, not holocausts”, it is for us to remember that the knowledge of God is greater than holocausts. Let’s reflect: Are my sacrifices devoid of selfless love?

Every year in May we go on pilgrimage with our home residents to venerate Mary in a special way. This time we visited the pilgrimage church Maria Magdalena a small church very close to Cochem with the
“miraculous Mother of the Mountain” on the Valwigerberg.
Through a church known as
“image of the miraculous mother of the mountain”.
Our Lady statue, which was created around 1400 from softwood,
which was made of soft wood around 1400,
a lively pilgrimage business developed on the Valwigerberg.
In the past, up to 2,000 pilgrims came daily on Marian feasts.
Even today, several pilgrimages take place on a smaller scale.
Yes, our residents always look forward very much to the pilgrimage. Of course, everyone gathered in front of our house very punctually for the departure. The oldest pilgrim who took part is 100 years old and a Protestant – but she didn’t let that stop her.
We presented all our intentions to Our Lady and, of course, sang the beautiful old Silesian Marian songs.
After the pilgrimage and coffee we went back home with happy residents.
One of the residents said: “Hopefully we will all be alive next year so that we can visit Our Lady on Valwigerberg again.
