THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY

„Mary’s constant ‘yes’ was a way of continually stepping away from herself and ‘going to the Father’ (Jn 14:28), and this is the Christian definition of death. That is why Mary can teach us how to die. Above all, we can learn that dying is an art that must be learned throughout one’s entire life. If one has died countless times throughout one’s life, then what we call ‘death’ is transformed into ‘assumption.’ Perhaps this is one of the most important things that Mary’s assumption into heaven is meant to teach us.” /W. Stinissen OCD/ Mary Assumed into Heaven, who are more Mother than Queen, shape our hearts, minds, feelings, desires, and actions so that everything may lead us to the Father’s House. Teach us to turn away at last from ourselves, from fears, worries, overwork, and sloth. Simplify our lives so that on the way to the Father’s House our faith may grow, along with our trust in God’s mercy and our readiness to serve. Help us to humbly accept and live well through moments of weakness and suffering. Fill our hearts with sensitivity toward others, compassion, and the courage to offer true help for their salvation. We entrust the final hours of our lives to Your Heart; may they be filled with love. Mary Assumed into Heaven—pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
