Sunday 3 May

5th Sunday of Easter
Readings: Acts 6:1–7; 1 Peter 2:4–9; John 14:1–12
On this Fifth Sunday of Easter, the Word of God reveals how the Resurrection shapes the life of the Church and of every believer. In the Acts of the Apostles (6:1–7), the community grows, but also faces challenges, and the Apostles discern that true service requires the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit. Even practical charity becomes a spiritual mission when rooted in God. In the First Letter of Peter (2:4–9), we are reminded that we are not isolated individuals, but “a chosen race, a royal priesthood,” called out of darkness into God’s wonderful light. The Resurrection is not only Christ’s victory; it is our new identity in Him. In the Gospel (John 14:1–12), Jesus proclaims: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” In the Resurrection, this becomes fully revealed: He is the way that leads to the Father, the truth that unveils God, and the life that overcomes death. To believe in Him is to walk this path, to live this truth, and to share in this life. Easter, therefore, is not only a mystery to contemplate, but a reality to live: guided by the Spirit, formed as a priestly people, and rooted in Christ who is our way, truth, and life. Let’s reflect: Easter is living in the Risen Christ as our way, truth, and life, guided by the Spirit and called to serve as His people of light.
