Celebration of the Lord’s Passion
John 18:1—19:42On Good Friday, as we contemplate the Passion according to John, we are drawn into the deepest mystery of Christ: love revealed in its most radical form. Jesus is betrayed, abandoned, judged, and crucified, yet throughout the entire narrative He remains sovereign in His self-offering. The Cross is not merely a place of suffering; it is the throne where divine love manifests its full power. In the face of injustice, pain, and death, Jesus does not resist with force, but transforms everything through love. This is the paradox of the Passion: the greater the depth of suffering, the more fully the power of love is revealed. To participate in the Passion of Christ is not only to witness His suffering, but to recognize that His love enters into every human pain and redeems it from within. Good Friday invites us into a profound communion with Him, where we discover that no darkness is stronger than the love that flows from the Cross. Let’s reflect: Do I recognize in the Cross of Christ that love is stronger than suffering, and allow His love to transform my own pain?
