Monday of the 3rd week of Eastertide
Gospel: John 6:22-29In today’s Gospel, Jesus redirects the crowd from what is temporary to what is eternal: “Do not work for food that cannot last, but work for food that endures to eternal life.” The people seek bread that satisfies hunger for a moment, but Jesus offers a nourishment that reaches the deepest hunger of the human heart. When they ask what work God requires, His answer is strikingly simple: to believe in the One He has sent. The true work is not first about many external efforts, but about entering into a living relationship with Jesus Christ. Faith is the labor of the heart that trusts, remains, and receives. It is in communion with Him that we receive the food that endures, the life of grace, truth, and eternal destiny. During the Easter season, we are invited to examine what we are striving for. So much energy is spent on what passes away, while the Risen Lord offers Himself as the lasting nourishment of our lives. To believe in Him is already to begin sharing in eternal life. Let’s reflect: Easter is turning from what passes away to the Risen Christ and finding in relationship with Him the food of eternal life.
