Saturday memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Saturday of week 11 in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Matthew 6:24-34In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to freedom from anxiety by revealing the heart of the Father. He points to the birds of the sky and the lilies of the field, reminding us that the Father lovingly cares for all His creation. Worry often arises when we see God as distant, indifferent, or demanding. But when we come to know the heart of the Father, trust becomes possible. Jesus does not deny the realities and responsibilities of life; rather, He teaches us that our relationship with God must be rooted in confidence that we are deeply loved and cared for. “Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” These words transform our perspective. We no longer live as servants trying to earn God’s attention, but as beloved sons and daughters who know they are already in His care. This is why Jesus urges us to “seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness.” When we know the Father’s heart, our priorities change, fear loses its power, and we learn to live one day at a time. On this memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we contemplate the one who trusted the Father’s providence completely. Mary teaches us that peace is born not from controlling every circumstance, but from surrendering our lives to the loving care of God. Knowing the heart of the Father is the key to every authentic relationship with Him, because trust grows where love is truly known. Let’s reflect: Do I truly know and trust the loving heart of the Father, seeking His Kingdom first and entrusting my worries, needs, and future to His providential care?
