Saint John, Apostle, Evangelist

3rd day within the octave of Christmas

Reading: 1 John 1:1-4

On this third day of the Christmas Octave, Saint John leads us into the heart of the mystery we celebrate: the Word who was with the Father has truly entered our human experience. What was from the beginning is no longer distant or abstract; it has been heard, seen, contemplated, and touched. Christmas is precisely this wonder, that eternal life has become tangible, shareable, and close. John speaks not as a theorist but as a witness, overflowing with joy because communion with God has become possible through Jesus Christ. The Child of Bethlehem is the Word of Life, and encountering Him gives fullness of joy. Christmas, then, is not merely remembering a birth long ago, but entering into a living relationship that draws us into communion with the Father and with one another. In Christ, joy is no longer fragile or fleeting; it is complete because it is grounded in eternal life made flesh among us. Let’s reflect: Christmas is the celebration of the Word of Life made tangible, when eternal communion with God becomes visible, touchable, and a source of complete joy.
