2nd Sunday of Christmas
Readings: Ecclesiasticus 24:1-2,8-12; Ephesians 1:3-6,15-18; John 1:1-18
On this Second Sunday of Christmas, the Church draws us into the depth of the mystery we celebrate: the Word who was with God and is God has entered our world to enlighten our minds and transform our destiny. Saint Paul prays that our inner eyes may be opened, so that we may grasp the hope of God’s call and the richness of the inheritance prepared for us. Christmas is not only about God coming close, but about humanity being lifted up, given the grace to know, to see, and to belong. The Gospel proclaims that the Word is the true light, shining for every person, and that those who welcome Him receive a staggering gift: the power to become children of God. This is the quiet glory of Christmas, wisdom replacing confusion, hope overcoming weariness, and divine life awakening within us. As the season unfolds, we are invited to let this light penetrate our understanding and shape our identity, living not as strangers before God, but as sons and daughters who know they are loved and called into His glory. Let’s reflect: Christmas is the gift of divine light that opens our minds and hearts, allowing us to know God, embrace hope, and live as beloved children drawn into His promised glory.
