In the Old Testament, the Ark was a holy place where people could be in God’s presence, a place where grace could flow freely and where, in a certain sense, atonement was made for human weaknesses. It was a place of encounter where a person could contemplate God’s glory, where the cloud of glory descended from the mountain to touch the earth. Mary, Ark of the Covenant, bearing within you the holy presence of God, you always remain in attentiveness, in adoration, and in trust. By looking at you and learning from you, I may come to know the taste of adoration and also become increasingly aware of the mystery of God’s presence in my heart. Intercede for me, Mother, that I may be ready to purify my heart, my intentions, and my desires. Prepare a place in me for God, a space for encounter and contemplation.
