Mary, the Holy Mother of God - Solemnity
Gospel: Luke 2:16-21
On the threshold of a new year, the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, teaches us how to stand before the mystery of Christmas with depth and wisdom. While others hurry past the wonder of Bethlehem, Mary pauses, treasuring all these things and pondering them in her heart. She does not rush to explain or control the grace she receives; she safeguards it in silence, allowing God’s work to mature within her. As Mother of God, she becomes also Mother of grace, holding within her heart the saving events that will unfold for the world. At the beginning of 2026, Mary shows us the posture with which to enter the year ahead: not anxious planning, but attentive listening; not noise, but interior space. Christmas continues in her contemplative heart, inviting us to gather the graces we have received, to reflect on them with faith, and to entrust the unfolding of our lives to God who has already drawn near. Let’s reflect: Christmas is the grace we receive and guard in silence, allowing the mystery of God-with-us to be treasured, pondered, and gradually unfolded in our hearts, as Mother Mary teaches us.
