Gospel: John 6:44-51In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals one of the deepest fruits of the Resurrection: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever.” What was promised becomes fully true in the Paschal mystery. The One who gave His flesh for the life of the world has passed through death and now lives forever, offering His risen life to us as nourishment. In the Eucharist, Christ does not give us a symbol of life, but His very self, the crucified and risen Lord who communicates immortality, grace, and communion with God. To receive this bread is to receive the life that death can no longer destroy. On the feast of Saint George, Martyr, we also remember that those who feed on Christ receive courage to witness, fidelity in trials, and hope stronger than fear. During the Easter season, we are invited to approach the living bread with renewed faith, knowing that the Resurrection is not distant from us, but placed into our hands and hearts in the gift of Christ Himself. Let’s reflect: Easter is receiving the crucified and risen Christ as the living bread and sharing in the life that death can no longer destroy.
