Gospel: John 13:16-20In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks to His disciples before His Passion and says: “From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that I AM.” These words lead us into the heart of the Resurrection. The events of the Cross and the empty tomb are not accidents of history, but the revelation of the divine identity of Jesus. He is not merely one who suffered and rose; He is the eternal “I AM,” the Lord present in human flesh, sovereign even when betrayed, condemned, and crucified. The Resurrection manifests what was hidden: the One who humbled Himself unto death is truly God, victorious over every power of darkness. Faith grows when we recognize that nothing in Christ’s Passion was outside His loving knowledge and saving purpose. Even what seemed defeat became revelation. On the memorial of Pope Saint Pius V, we also remember the call to steadfast faith and fidelity to the truth of Christ. During the Easter season, we are invited to trust more deeply that the risen Lord governs even what we do not understand, and to believe that Jesus is truly the living “I AM” in the midst of our lives. Let’s reflect: Easter is believing that Jesus, the living I AM, transforms every apparent defeat into the revelation of His victorious presence.
