Wednesday of Holy Week
Matthew 26:14-25In today’s Gospel, Judas steps forward to betray Jesus, turning relationship into transaction. This moment is not distant from us; it reflects a truth we often prefer to avoid, our own betrayals are also woven into the Passion of Christ. Each time we choose self-interest over love, silence over truth, or comfort over fidelity, we echo that same movement away from Him. Yet Jesus, even knowing what is about to happen, continues to offer Himself, He shares the meal, He gives the bread, He remains present. This is the mystery of His love: He does not withdraw in the face of betrayal but transforms it into an offering. Holy Week invites us into a deeply personal relationship with His Passion, where we do not stand outside judging Judas, but recognize ourselves within the story. And precisely there, we discover that Christ’s suffering is not only caused by sin but also given for our redemption. In facing our betrayals honestly, we are led not to despair, but to a deeper encounter with the mercy that continues to love us even when we fail. Let’s reflect: Do I recognize how my own betrayals are part of Christ’s Passion, and do I allow His mercy to transform them into a deeper love for Him?
