Easter Wednesday
Gospel: Luke 24:13–35
In today’s Gospel, the two disciples walk to Emmaus with heavy hearts, unable to recognize that the Risen Jesus is walking beside them. Their eyes remain closed even as He explains the Scriptures, but everything changes at the table: “He took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.” In that breaking, their eyes are opened, and they recognize Him. This moment reveals that the Resurrection becomes real not only in understanding, but in encounter, especially in the breaking of the bread. It is there that absence turns into presence, confusion into clarity, and sadness into joy. During the Easter season, we are invited to rediscover that the Risen Christ makes Himself known in this same way in our lives. Easter becomes a lived reality when we allow Him to meet us, nourish us, and reveal Himself in the breaking, where what is given and shared becomes the place of recognition. Let’s reflect: Easter is recognizing the Risen Christ in the breaking of the bread and allowing His presence to transform our journey.
