First reading – Ruth 1:1,3-6,14-16,22
“Do not press me to leave you and to turn back from your company, for ‘wherever you go, I will go, wherever you live, I will live. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God”. These words of Ruth are so profound in a relationship within the family. Ruth completely embraces the faith and customs of her husband forever. In the words of Ruth we can see how much she identifies herself with the faith of her husband. Not only that, but also her relationship with Naomi, her mother-in-law. In the reading we see, “But Ruth clung to her”. This is the depth of relationship. Clinging to the other. Ruth completely embraces with her heart the customs and faith of her husband. With that also the family of her husband forever. This clinging to the family of her husband made her part of the genealogy of Jesus Christ. When God calls us, be ready to cling completely and forever to the plan of God. That makes the difference in our life.
