Friday of the 5th week of Eastertide
Gospel: John 15:12-17In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals the deepest meaning of His Resurrection through the measure of His love: “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” The Risen Christ is forever the One who loved unto the end. His Resurrection does not erase the sacrifice of the Cross; it reveals its eternal power. The wounds remain in the glorified body of Christ because love remains the heart of His identity. This is not a distant or abstract love, but a personal love that calls us friends, chooses us, and invites us to remain in communion with Him. The Resurrection shows that self-giving love is stronger than death, stronger than betrayal, stronger than fear. To live Easter is therefore to enter into this same love, to love not only with words, but with sacrifice, fidelity, forgiveness, and concrete self-giving. During this Easter season, we are invited to contemplate the risen Lord as the living manifestation of divine love and to allow His love to transform the way we live, serve, and relate to one another. Let’s reflect: Easter is living the self-giving love of the Risen Christ, who laid down His life so that we may love as His friends.
