5th Sunday of Lent
Readings: Ezekiel 37:12-1; Romans 8:8-11; John 11:3-7,17,20-27,33-45
On this Fifth Sunday of Lent, the Word of God speaks powerfully about life, freedom, and transformation. Through the prophet Ezekiel, God promises to open the graves and bring His people back to life, inviting us to let Him take control of our hearts and restore what is lifeless within us. Saint Paul deepens this promise by reminding us that when the Spirit of Jesus lives in us, we are no longer bound by the limitations of the flesh, but are animated by divine life itself. In the Gospel, the raising of Lazarus becomes the visible sign of this reality: Jesus calls him out of the tomb and then commands, “Unbind him, let him go free.” This is not only about physical resurrection, but about the freedom that comes when Christ enters our lives. Lent invites us to step out of our own tombs, of fear, sin, and despair, and to allow the Lord to remove whatever binds us. When we let God take control and welcome the Spirit within us, we experience the true freedom of being made alive again in Christ. Let’s reflect: Lent is allowing God to take control of our lives, welcoming His Spirit within us, and stepping out of what binds us into the freedom of new life in Christ.
