Tuesday of the 3rd week of Eastertide Saint Anselm of Canterbury, Bishop, Doctor Gospel: John 6:30-35 In today’s Gospel, the crowd asks Jesus for a sign and speaks of the manna given in the desert. Jesus leads them beyond the memory of past gifts to the fullness of the present gift: “I am the bread of life.” Here the mystery of Easter shines clearly. The One who died and rose again does not remain distant from us; the Risen Christ becomes our nourishment. He is not only the giver of bread, He Himself is the bread. In Him, eternal life is no longer a promise far away, but a reality offered now to those who come and believe. Every human hunger, for meaning, forgiveness, truth, love, and lasting joy, finds its answer in Him. Saint Anselm sought faith that longs to understand; today the Gospel invites us to a faith that longs to receive. During the Easter season, we are called to approach the living Christ with open hearts, for the Risen Lord still feeds His people with Himself and satisfies the deepest hunger of the soul. Let’s reflect: Easter is coming to the Risen Christ, receiving Him as the bread of life, and allowing Him to satisfy the deepest hunger of our soul.
