The Annunciation of the Lord
Readings: Isaiah 7:10-14,8:10; Hebrews 10:4-10; Luke 1:26-38On the Solemnity of the Annunciation, the mystery of the Incarnation unfolds in profound simplicity and divine audacity: the Creator enters His creation, the Eternal takes on time, and God becomes man. The promise given through Isaiah, “God with us”, finds its definitive fulfillment as the Word is made flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary. In the Letter to the Hebrews, we glimpse the inner movement of this mystery: Christ comes into the world saying, “Here I am, I come to do your will,” offering a body prepared once and for all for our salvation. Yet this divine initiative awaits a human response, and in Mary’s humble “Yes,” heaven and earth are united. Her consent is not passive, but an active cooperation in God’s plan, allowing the Incarnation to take flesh within history. In this meeting of divine will and human freedom, we see that salvation begins where God’s grace is welcomed. The Annunciation invites us to contemplate a God who does not impose Himself, but who enters gently, seeking a heart open enough to receive Him. Let’s reflect: Am I ready, like Mary, to say “Yes” to God’s will so that Christ may take flesh in my life?
