Wednesday of the 4th week of Eastertide
Gospel: John 12:44-50In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals the heart of the Resurrection mystery: “I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.” The Resurrection is not only that Christ left the tomb; it is that divine light entered forever into the human condition. In the risen Jesus, darkness no longer has the final word, neither the darkness of sin, confusion, suffering, nor death. To believe in Him is to step into a new horizon where truth overcomes falsehood, hope overcomes despair, and life overcomes the grave. Christ does not come to condemn, but to save; His light exposes what binds us only in order to free and heal us. On the memorial of Saint Catherine of Siena, we remember a soul set ablaze by this divine light, who called the Church and the world back to Christ with courage and love. During the Easter season, we are invited not merely to admire the light from afar, but to welcome the risen Lord within us, so that no part of our life remains in darkness. Let’s reflect: Easter is believing in the risen Christ, welcoming His light into our lives, and no longer remaining in darkness.
