Thursday of the 1st week of Lent
First reading Esther 4:17
Lent is a season of surrender, a time to acknowledge our deep dependence on God, just as Queen Esther did in her moment of distress. In her plea, “Come to my help, for I am alone and have no one but you, Lord” (Esther 4:17), we hear the raw cry of a heart that knows its only refuge is in God. Often, we seek security in our own strength, in others, or in the world’s fleeting assurances, but Lent reminds us that true deliverance comes only from the Lord. It is a call to strip away illusions of self-sufficiency and humbly place our trust in His providence. As we journey through this season, may we, like Esther, bring our fears, struggles, and uncertainties before Him, knowing that He alone is our help, our hope, and our salvation. Let’s reflect: Lent is a time to recognize that the Lord is the only one to whom we can turn in our moments of distress.
