Monday of the 1st week of Advent
Reading: Isaiah 4:2-6
Isaiah’s prophecy today fills Advent with a quiet, steady hope: when the Lord comes, His presence will be our shelter. He promises to spread His glory over His people like a protective canopy, a shade from the heat, a refuge from storm and rain. In a world full of pressures, anxieties, and unexpected tempests, this image offers profound consolation. God does not promise a life without difficulties, but He does promise that His nearness will guard, cool, and steady us. The “Branch of the Lord” who comes, Christ Himself, brings not only salvation but a place of rest for every wounded, weary heart. Advent invites us to seek this shelter daily, to step under the canopy of God’s glory through prayer, trust, and quiet surrender. When we allow His presence to cover us, fear loosens its grip and hope becomes our dwelling place. Let’s reflect: Advent is the season in which we learn to seek and trust the Lord as our shelter, allowing His coming presence to cover us with glory, protect us from life’s storms, and fill our waiting with hope.
