Gospel – Luke 4:38-44
“And she immediately got up and began to wait on them”. Simon’s mother-in-law is a model for us. Precisely in an important aspect of our spiritual life. This aspect is called the “immediate”. This is the aspect against being lazy or being passive or even being doubtful. We receive lots of graces every day in our life. Also sometimes, we receive some special graces sometimes. But how often we are immediate in getting up? Here she is not only immediate in getting up but also, she started serving them. This is not waiting to recover completely. She immediately gets up and started serving them. We are sometimes slow. Sometimes we get up, but we don’t serve. We wait for the opportunity to serve. We wait for the next Sunday to say thanks. We wait for a better opportunity to serve others. But here we have model, getting up immediately and serving the Lord. We must immediately act according to the grace received and we must transform that grace into service of others. Let’s reflect: Do I respond immediately to the grace of God and start serving the Lord?
