On the eve of our founder’s birthday, we also met in our small convent to reflect on him and his life.
During the introduction I recalled his birthday…
Our sister Bernarda (87J and sometimes a little forgetful)
asked:
“How old do you think he might be?”
My answer:” He would have been 201 years old…..
Sister Bernarda again …
you can’t get that old,
he has already died – hasn’t he?
He did enough good things for us…..
But now he can live on in our hearts…..”
I was very impressed by this reaction
and I have to say …
Sister Bernarda understood a lot!
Yes – let us always take our founder as an example in our everyday lives.
The needs of today are just as relevant in all countries as they were back then.
If we open our eyes, ears and hearts – we can do a lot in his spirit and the people we accompany in conversation, in and with our prayers,
are grateful for it –
I experience this again and again.

Today we had a “high” visit to our house on the Klosterberg in Cochem
“High” visit, because several kings have all who live in the house, work,
They prayed for and with our residents, sang and collected gifts at the same time
With their campaign, they want to ensure that children with mental or physical disabilities are protected and supported.
It was a wonderful encounter – especially when we visited the crèche in our chapel.
The children are unique, interested and proud that they even received the blessing
“Christus mansionem benedicat”.
We send greetings to all our fellow sisters and wish everyone – who reads this – God’s blessing for the whole year 2025.

From December 27 to 29, 2024, the Parish of St. Apostles Matthew and Matthias in Birchwood was very joyful and festive. Nearly a hundred children and twenty-four caregivers in beautiful costumes, with stars in their hands, went on a caroling trail. Our little missionaries sang carols and presented a short scene about the situation of children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. At the end, in each house where they caroled they left a souvenir – a nut. Where they were not allowed to enter they said a prayer for the residents. With carols on their lips and sweets, they visited the residents of the DPS in Raciborz and the Children’s Homes in Pogrzebienie and Krzanowice.
The summary of the “mission” took place on the Feast of the Epiphany. During the solemn Eucharist, the Missionary Carolers prayed for the DRC, the PDMD and the missionaries, and made a monetary donation, which they collected during the caroling. They also thanked the Newborn that they were given the opportunity to safely proclaim the glad tidings of His coming to earth.

It has become a tradition that before Christmas, our community in the Philippines visits the local women’s prison in Mandaluyong, where Ms. Basia from Poland has been incarcerated for more than 13 years. The meeting was accompanied by great emotion and much joy. At the end, Ms. Basia gave us a handmade small Christmas tree made of beads.

At St. Marienkrankenhaus Berlin, as in other Catholic hospitals, it has been a long-standing tradition to organize a pre-Christmas celebration for the patients.
This was also the case on 12 December 2024, when a representative of the Archbishop of Berlin, Dr. Heiner Koch, always attends this Christmas party. This year, it was Cathedral Provost Prelate Tobias Przytarski who, together with the hospital’s Catholic and Protestant chaplains, brought the bishop’s greetings to the patients.
The Christmas celebration began in the hospital chapel with a short prayer service. Hospital staff, nursing staff, doctors, student nurses and also many nuns took part, before going to the individual wards together with the cathedral provost and the chaplains and performing Christmas carols for the patients.
The cathedral provost and the chaplains went to each individual patient and the surprise and joy of the patients was written all over their faces. Some cried, others sang along and this was a rich reward for all those involved in the organization, in the profound experience that he who gives receives it back a thousandfold.
In this joy, a dinner was then held for all those involved in the St. Augustine monastery and it was a happy conclusion to this successful celebration.
