Do not close yourself in your assumptions

Do not close yourself in your assumptions

Assumptions… a constant companion of our life. We assume that things are like this or like that…people are like that or like this. With our assumptions we close our life to the limits of our knowledge or our imagination. Assumptions can be good. But do not close yourself in your assumptions. Sometimes the assumptions do not allow us to listen to others and even worse, they do not let others speak even. Because you already assumed. So, when you assume, be aware that your assumption can be wrong, and the world could be wider and bigger than your assumptions. Do not be a victim of your own assumption and don’t make others a victim of your assumptions. Keep open always the possibility to verify your assumptions to embrace the truth.

Unexpressed thoughts

Unexpressed thoughts

Unexpressed thoughts make a good percentage of our thoughts. Mostly passed as personal and under our control. But the truth is that the unexpressed thoughts are not fully under our control. They subside into us but subside actively in us. So, it is important that the unexpressed thoughts are also positive. Do not get comfortable by the fact that no one else is knowing those thoughts. The negative unexpressed thoughts opaque our expressed positive thoughts.  Therefore, train the mind to generate always positive thoughts whether expressed or unexpressed.

I like it and what about others?

I like it and what about others?

What pleases me can be not pleasing to others. The fact that I like something, is not to be a reason to take it for granted that everyone likes it. So, before generalizing, stop for a moment and look around with the question, “I like it and what about others?” This openness eases many tensions where we are living and working. Generalization of my likes may create a lot of dislikes which damages the positivity of the situation where we are. Be sensitive to the likes of others before generalizing!

25th World Day for Consecrated Life

25th World Day for Consecrated Life

Pope Saint John Paul II instituted a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd. This Feast is also known as Candlemas Day; the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world. So too, those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples.

Three reflections to share:

1. Consecration is a liberation through faith from our personal plans to embrace the plan of God. In the life of St. Joseph, we see it very clearly. He had his own personal plans but after the apparition of the Angel in the dream, “he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him”. This is a constant process in our life. Standing above our personal plans to be an instrument of His plan. No other plans, Jesus is my plan!

2. Consecration is embracing with hope the present situation to make it the best place for Jesus Christ to be present. Here also we see in St. Joseph a model. There was no place in the inn, instead St. Joseph prepared a manger. Wherever we are, our consecration gives us the hope to make a place for Jesus. Kings or shepherds, they will find in our witness, in our joy, in our being, the good news of Messiah. No doubts, Jesus is my joy!

3. Consecration is becoming love to be the light to guide those around us according to the plan of God. The image of St. Joseph, leading the Holy Family is before us. Becoming love happens in our personal relationship with God who becomes our love. In that love, we know when to flee to Egypt and when to go to Nazareth so that our only Love, Jesus is alive in us. No compromises, Jesus is my treasure!

Admiration is not enough

Admiration is not enough

Our sense of wonder or admiration at inspiring thoughts and reflections could act as a block of really making differences in our life. We like the reflection but that is it! No effect in real life! Because to admire is easy, but to change is difficult. We admire the thoughts and with that admiration finishes everything. Admiration becomes the closed door to the heart where the inspiration is supposed to make changes and betterments. So, watch out, whether your admiration about models, reflections or thoughts are being closed out at the door of your heart or are you letting them make betterments in your life?

Do not miss to see the good and appreciate that

Do not miss to see the good and appreciate that

Encouraging the positivity in others is essential to create a good atmosphere around us. The world would have been a better if every good has been acknowledged and appreciated. Stirring a response from others in love and in good works is reconstructing situations in peace and in hope. Encouraging others is also an effective way of boosting up your own positive energy. Do not miss to see the good and appreciate that. It is joining forces for a better world.
