Memories of holidays in Rome

Memories of holidays in Rome

I am for the second time on vacation in Rome. Someone could ask why Rome? Is there no other places to rest? Well, they are. And we choose and my choice was just one. In Rome, I find what’s old and what is new and continues. The city of Rome shows the face of the empire and its size, power, majesty and strength. The empire that has fallen and remained only in textbooks and monuments. Nothing on the Earth can last forever. Only the kingdom of Jesus is eternal, but he is not from this world. The empire fell and faith in the Son of God continues. The second face of Rome is a place where about 1000 churches are located, where every day, so close to each other, the presence of God in the Eucharist takes place. I belong to the followers of Jesus Christ, here is my place in the Church, where the human authority is about the God’s authorities. The Pope is subject to God and on his behalf he proclaims the Gospel. We are all brothers and sisters and greater power has the one who serves. Our superiors in union with the Church serve communities and support them. It’s great that in a place like Rome there is our religious house. I feel welcomed here and always overjoyed in my heart. The international community inspires me to look for communication words and thus to broaden the thinking horizons.

In my opinion, there is need to create a good community:

– First want to have it

– want to be with it (shared moments)

– want to be in it (when I share with others)

I hope each of us can create a community.

An afternoon together on the Klosterberg in Cochem

An afternoon together on the Klosterberg in Cochem

Psalm 90 says:

“Our life is 70 years

and when we are healthy it’s 80. ”

and sometimes there are even more …

so it is

with our prayerful woman

Sister Modesta,

because on August 24, 2021

we celebrated her 95th birthday.

And … in a proverb it says:

“You should always celebrate the festivities as they come.

Who knows exactly

when the opportunity arises again. ”

Yes – and so it was a nice occasion to invite the sisters from Treis Karden to join us.

They were also happy to come.

As always, we first met in our chapel for a little impulse from Jörg Zink.

Lord of my hours and my years.

You gave me a lot of time.

It’s behind me and it’s in front of me.

it was mine and it will be mine

and I got it from you.

I thank you for every stroke of the clock and for every morning that I see.

I am not asking you to give me more time.

But I ask you for a lot of serenity to fill ,

every hour with your thoughts on me

I ask you to take care not to kill my time

do not drive away, do not spoil.

You bless my day

We thanked God for the life of our sister Modesta.

She was able to experience a lot and it was often a very difficult time –

but she always and in every situation entrusted herself to God and, as she said, “No matter how bad it could be – I have always been able to rely on God. He never left me alone. ”

One of her favorite songs is:

 “Whoever believes is never alone….

Whoever believes is never alone! You, Lord, will be with us

with your power that creates life.

Whoever believes is never alone.

You are Jesus, the Son of God, you are close to all people.

You invite us to friendship

You want life to be in abundance to us in time and eternity.

You called Peter, your disciple, a rock that carries us:

As a fisherman, as a herdsman, bring together what goes astray,

in time and eternity!

You give people who follow you on your path, what is called love.

Stay with us with your spirit, future and hope he promises us

in time and eternity!

You are hope for all people on the streets of this world.

Give peace and unity!

Give us the truth that will set us free in time and eternity!

You are Christ, door to life, you give everything, you take nothing.

Love is your power.

Remain, Lord, with us day and night in time and eternity!

“Whoever believes is never alone….

Of course we then also listened to this song together.

Then there was coffee, cake, sandwiches and good conversation in the refectory.

Well and an addition – there had to be a surprise too….

As agreed – after a while there was a knock on our door and when I opened it, two employees were standing with the ice cream truck and wanted to serve us.

They were of course greeted with strong applause and then each sister could choose which ice cream she would like to have …

with hot cherry, eggnog, chocolate sauce – or … or … ..

Yes, this surprise really worked

and it wasn’t the only one –

Sister Modesta was really happy about the post from the generalate, the post from the provincial superior and the mayor of the association and city, and the congratulations from the senior citizen center with a very beautiful bouquet of flowers that the home manager and the nursing manager personally presented.

Many thanks to everyone – for that !!!

YES, we are grateful that the oldest sister from the German Province lives with us here in our convent on the Klosterberg.

May God reward her for all the good she has done in our congregation and the many people she has met

and give her a new blessing every day.

Put the purpose clearly before you

Put the purpose clearly before you

Don’t get dispersed yourself among the different things you would like to do. Multitasking is different from chasing your wishes and fantasies. Your wishes or desires in life should be aligned with a purpose. It is that purpose which puts yours desires or wishes in life in a priority list and encourages you to follow them. If the purpose is missing it will be like running in different directions without a finishing point. At the end of the day, you will be still looking for happiness though you satisfied some of your wishes. Put the purpose clearly before you and you will find your wishes brought into harmony and you have a direction to follow.

Good news from the Tanzania Region

Good news from the Tanzania Region

We have any reason to thank God for the gift of life and the divine calling. It is truly to thank God for continuing to receive sacred vocations in our Congregation especially in our Region of Tanzania. The scriptures tell us that; the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few, so we ask the Lord of the harvest to send many labourers into his field. Encouraged by these words of comfort we have any reason to thank God for having a new vocation in our Congregation especially in our Tanzanian Region.

In this year we are so happy to have 5 new Sisters of first Profession which held on 28.08.2021 in our Chikukwe Community. We thank God for that gift.

Also we thanking God for having 5 Novices in the same day; and on 29.08.2021 they entered 7 Postulant. What more can we say than to give thanks to God for His goodness that He gives us every day. As we continue to thank God for the gift of our vocation we are proud that those who are called continue to glorify God for their lives within the Congregation. It seems is the good sign of life in our Region by having a new vocation is like a child now the Region are growing and widening daily. Let us joined together to thank God for having 2 sisters on 28.08.2021, who fulfilled the 25º Jubilee of their religious vows. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

We commend them all and pray for God’s grace so that they may continue to love God more and give a better witness of their religious life.

The fifth request

The fifth request

We say the Lord’s Prayer several times every day. Probably we have considered its content many times by listening, reading or meditating on what the Lord Jesus left us in it and to what he invites his disciples to. For some time, however, I have been paying special attention to the fifth request, which is conditional and touches the essence of Christianity: And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

The theme of forgiveness is closely related to mercy. Forgiveness is one way we show mercy. One of the more demanding ways I would say … I trust everyone has experienced his healing power in their lives. Forgiveness received from loved ones teaches us to show mercy to other people, and also to ourselves, from childhood. People who are unable to show mercy to themselves usually have difficulties showing mercy to others, which makes it difficult to build social and community relations. Forgiveness serves our human and Christian development. He conforms us to Christ who invited his disciples to love their enemies (cf. Mt 5: 43-48). Jesus himself gave  an example when he died on the cross for us, while we were still sinners (Rom 5: 8) and prayed in agony. Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing (Lk 23: 34a). Most often we experience forgiving love from God in the sacrament of penance and reconciliation. A well-lived confession allows us to mend our relationships with those who have been at fault towards us or who have suffered because of us … Forgiveness requires rising above personal resentment, regret or such a natural but very primal desire to retaliate, which in fact does not help but drives the mechanism of evil. In the parable of the unmerciful debtor, the Lord Jesus invites us to forgive from the heart (cf. Mt 18:35), and not only superficially. In the Bible, the heart is the seat of feelings and will, it is the center of humanity. Forgiveness requires faith and trust in God, although it does not mean giving up your sense of justice and the expectation of restitution. During the trial before Annas, Jesus, struck by the servant of the high priest, asks him the question: If I said wrong, prove what was wrong. If that’s right, why do you beat me? (Jn 18:23). With these words, Jesus touches the conscience, stimulates the reflection of a man seeking human favors. It teaches us to care for the souls of those who have hurt us. This concern involves prayer, if possible, conversation, and, if necessary, help from the culprit.

Personally, I have found many times that forgiveness builds community. It belongs to its fundamental principles. When shown in a natural way, it helps to overcome difficulties that are not lacking in everyday life. Forgiveness is always possible. It leads to inner freedom even in difficult circumstances and helps to a fuller union with Jesus. Forgiveness received from the community brings us closer to each other and opens us to a variety of thinking, reacting and perceiving reality. Finally, forgiveness is combined with the gentleness which Pope Francis, in his Apostolic Exhortation on the call to holiness in the modern world Gaudete et exultate, describes as the style of Jesus (cf. no. 71).
