Our Lady of Guadalupe
Reading: Zechariah 2:14-17
Advent, seen through the prophecy of Zechariah and illuminated by Our Lady of Guadalupe, is the joyful awareness that God desires not merely to visit His people but to dwell among us in a lasting, tender nearness. “Shout for joy… for I am coming to dwell in your midst,” says the Lord, revealing that His presence is not distant or occasional but intimate, familial, and transformative. Mary of Guadalupe embodies this promise: she comes as the Mother who carries God-with-us, drawing near to the poor, the wounded, the forgotten, and assuring them that Heaven bends low to accompany their lives. Advent invites us to live in this expectancy, not a passive waiting, but an active welcoming, preparing a space in our hearts where God may find a home and where His presence can reshape our fears into confidence, our loneliness into communion, and our ordinary days into places where Emmanuel truly abides. Let’s reflect: Advent, in this reflection, is the joyful expectancy that God desires to dwell personally and permanently among His people, transforming our lives with His nearness and inviting us to prepare a welcoming space for Emmanuel.
