20 December – IV day of the novena of Christmas
O clavis David!
Reading: Isaiah 7:10-14
As Advent reaches its final days, the prophecy of Isaiah stands with striking clarity and quiet wonder: “The virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel.” With the cry O Clavis David, we contemplate the mystery of a God who chooses to enter history not by force, but through a Virgin’s consent. This sign given by the Lord is not meant to impress but to invite trust—God-with-us, present in fragility, humility, and obedience. Advent invites us to stand in reverent silence before this mystery: the infinite God choosing dependence, the Creator entering creation through Mary’s faith. In her, prophecy becomes flesh; promise becomes presence. As we await Christmas, we are called to welcome this Emmanuel not with certainty born of control, but with the openness of faith that allows God to do what only He can do. Let’s reflect: Advent is the season of reverent trust in God’s promise, when we await Emmanuel, God with us, who comes through humility, faith, and the mystery of divine love made flesh.
