The Most Holy Name of Jesus
Gospel: John 1:29-34
In the radiant days of Christmas, the Gospel reveals the deep mystery at the heart of Jesus’ identity through the testimony of John the Baptist. As John points to Jesus as the Lamb of God, he also unveils the intimate bond between Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit who descends and remains upon Him. This is not a fleeting sign but a lasting presence, revealing who Jesus truly is and how He lives His mission. Christmas reminds us that the Child born in Bethlehem is the One anointed by the Spirit, sent by the Father to take away the sin of the world. The Most Holy Name of Jesus carries this fullness within it: salvation, obedience, sacrifice, and divine life poured out for humanity. As we continue to celebrate Christmas, we are invited to recognize that to know Jesus is to encounter the Spirit at work, drawing us into the life of God and shaping us to live as witnesses of the light that has come into the world. Let’s reflect: Christmas is the revelation of Jesus anointed by the Holy Spirit, the Savior whose very name carries God’s life into the world and draws us into the Spirit’s transforming presence.
