Saint Raymond of Penyafort, Priest
Gospel: Matthew 4:12-17,23-25
The Epiphany light continues to spread as the Gospel proclaims that those who lived in darkness have seen a great light. This light is not merely consoling; it is transformative. When Christ appears, shadows lose their power and life is redirected toward truth. The first response Jesus asks for is repentance, not as condemnation, but as an invitation to change direction because light has entered the landscape of human existence. Epiphany teaches us that encountering Christ always brings clarity: what once seemed normal is questioned, what was hidden is revealed, and hearts are stirred to begin anew. The light that dawns over Galilee still reaches places marked by fear, confusion, or spiritual fatigue, calling people not only to admire the light but to walk in it. Repentance, then, becomes the natural fruit of Epiphany, choosing life shaped by the light that has already risen. Let’s reflect: Epiphany is the dawning of Christ’s light in the darkness of human life, awakening hearts to repentance and inviting a renewed way of living shaped by truth and hope.
