Gospel: Mark 6:34-44
On this day within the light of the Epiphany, we contemplate Jesus as the revelation of God’s compassionate presence among His people. In Mark 6:34-44, Christ sees the crowd like sheep without a shepherd and responds not only by teaching them, but by feeding them. The multiplication of the loaves is not only a miracle of sustenance, it is a sign of divine care that continues to shine in our own lives. Just as the Magi offered their gifts and bowed in reverence, we too are called to bring what little we have, our five loaves and two fish, and place it in the hands of the Lord. Epiphany is the manifestation of God’s abundance through Christ, and that revelation becomes complete when we, like the disciples, participate in His mission: “Give them something to eat yourselves.” This is the call of Epiphany, to reflect the light of Christ through acts of mercy, generosity, and service to those still searching for the Bread of Life. Let’s reflect: Epiphany is the revelation of God’s compassion made visible through our concrete acts of care.
