Gospel: Mark 6:45-52
In the days following Epiphany, the Gospel shows us how the light of Christ meets us not only in wonder but also in exhaustion. As the disciples struggle against the wind, worn out by rowing through the night, Jesus comes to them across the water with words that cut through fear: “Courage! It is I! Do not be afraid.” Epiphany reveals a God who makes Himself known precisely in moments of weakness, when human strength is spent and hope feels distant. Jesus does not wait for calm seas; He enters the storm and speaks His presence into their fear. This manifestation teaches us that Christ is revealed not only in brightness but also in perseverance, in the quiet assurance that we are not alone while struggling forward. When we recognize Him in these moments, fear gives way to trust, and the journey continues with renewed courage. Let’s reflect: Epiphany is the recognition of Christ revealed in our moments of struggle, when His presence dispels fear and gives courage to continue the journey even when strength is nearly spent.
