Mark 1:21-28
In the synagogue at Capernaum, Jesus reveals a new kind of authority, one that does not rely on position, force, or fear, but on the power to liberate. His word pierces through disorder and exposes the evil that enslaves the human heart, commanding it to leave. This authority is not abstract; it is deeply personal, reaching into the hidden places where fear, resentment, and sin take hold. Mark shows us that Jesus is not merely a teacher with insight, but the Savior whose presence restores wholeness and freedom. The astonishment of the people reflects the shock of encountering a power that heals rather than dominates. This Gospel invites us to trust that the same authority of Christ is at work within us today, an authority that confronts what distorts our lives and opens the way to true peace. Let’s reflect: Do I allow the saving authority of Jesus to confront and heal the areas of my life where fear, sin, or inner disorder still hold power?
