Saints Timothy and Titus, Bishops
Monday of week 3 in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Mark 3:22-30
The Gospel today warns us of a grave spiritual blindness: the refusal to recognize God’s work when it is clearly present. In accusing Jesus of acting by the power of an unclean spirit, the scribes reveal how deeply distorted the human heart can become when pride and prejudice take control. To call evil what is born of divine love is not simply a mistake of judgment; it is a deliberate closing of oneself to truth. This attitude can quietly enter our own lives when we become suspicious of what is holy, cynical toward sincerity, or quick to interpret goodness as weakness or manipulation. The example of Saints Timothy and Titus reminds us that authentic faith requires clarity of heart and humility of mind, so that we can discern God’s action without fear or resentment. Today’s reflection invites us to examine whether we allow the Holy Spirit to purify our vision, enabling us to recognize and reverence what is truly of God, or whether our inner resistance leads us to diminish, dismiss, or mislabel the grace that stands before us. Let’s reflect: Do I allow pride, suspicion, or prejudice to distort my vision so that I fail to recognize God’s work and grace, even when it is clearly present and holy?
