Thursday of week 3 in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Mark 4:21-25
In today’s Gospel, Jesus links generosity of heart with spiritual abundance, reminding us that what we give is inseparable from what we receive. The measure we use, our openness, trust, and willingness to share, shapes the depth of grace at work within us. Following Christ is never a cautious calculation but a generous self-gift, where light is meant to be placed on a lampstand, not hidden away. When we hold back love, forgiveness, or truth, we diminish not only others but ourselves; when we give freely, the Kingdom expands within and around us. This teaching invites us to examine how we approach discipleship: whether we ration our commitment or offer ourselves without reserve. Jesus assures us that generosity in faith, compassion, and service is never lost, for God responds with an even greater outpouring of life and meaning. Let’s reflect: What measure do I use in following Jesus, do I give myself generously in faith, love, and service, trusting that God will return far more than I offer?
