Gospel: Mark 5:21-43
In the Gospel of today, the intertwined stories of Jairus and the woman afflicted with hemorrhages reveal a single, powerful invitation from Jesus: “Do not be afraid; only have faith.” Jairus faces the ultimate fear, the death of his child, while the woman carries years of silent suffering and exclusion, yet both dare to approach Jesus with trust. Faith here is not the absence of fear, but the decision to move toward Christ despite it. The woman reaches out in vulnerability, believing that even a touch will bring healing; Jairus continues to hope even when human reason tells him it is too late. Jesus meets both with compassion and power, showing that faith opens the space where God acts beyond our calculations. This Gospel assures us that no situation is beyond the reach of Christ and no fear stronger than His life-giving presence. When we entrust our deepest anxieties to Him, faith becomes the path through which death gives way to life, despair to hope, and fear to peace. Let’s reflect: Where in my life am I being invited by Jesus to move beyond fear and place my trust in Him, even when the situation seems hopeless?
