Saturday of week 4 in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Mark 6:30-34
In today’s Gospel, Jesus looks upon the returning apostles and immediately perceives their exhaustion, inviting them to rest with Him. Yet when He sees the crowd, His heart is moved with compassion, and His love responds to both the fatigue of His disciples and the deeper hunger of the people. This reveals a tender truth about Christ: His love does not ignore our weariness, nor does it demand that we be strong before coming to Him. Jesus recognizes our fatigue, physical, emotional, and spiritual, and meets us precisely there, not with reproach but with care and guidance. On this memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we are reminded that Mary too lived this attentive love, quietly noticing needs and trusting her Son to act. The Gospel invites us to bring our tired hearts to Jesus, confident that His compassion restores us and transforms our weariness into renewed strength for loving and serving others. Let’s us reflect: Do I allow Jesus to see and touch my fatigue, trusting His compassionate love to restore me, or do I carry my weariness alone without turning to Him?
