Friday of week 3 in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Mark 4:26-34
In these parables, Jesus invites us to trust the hidden and patient work of the Kingdom of God, which unfolds beyond our control and often beyond our awareness. The seed grows silently, whether we are awake or asleep, reminding us that God’s action does not depend on our constant intervention but on our fidelity and trust. What begins as something small, fragile, and almost insignificant, like the mustard seed, carries within it an unexpected fullness that only time and grace can reveal. The Kingdom is not built through spectacle or immediate results, but through quiet beginnings that mature into spaces of shelter and life for many. This Gospel encourages us not to despise modest starts in our faith, our service, or our communities, but to recognize them as places where God is already at work. When we allow the seed of the Word to be sown and resist the urge to control its growth, we learn to hope with patience, confident that God will bring to completion what He has begun. Let’s reflect: Do I trust God’s quiet and patient work in my life, allowing small beginnings of faith and goodness to grow in their own time into something that gives life and shelter to others?
