Monday of week 2 in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Mark 2:18-22
The Gospel reminds us that Christian faith cannot be reduced to habits, customs, or outward observances detached from a living relationship with Jesus Christ. When Jesus speaks of new wine and old wineskins, He reveals that His presence brings a new way of life that cannot be contained within rigid frameworks or merely inherited practices. Faith begins with following Him, allowing our hearts, minds, and attitudes to be renewed from within. External actions have meaning only when they flow from an interior conversion and a personal encounter with Christ. Without this inner renewal, even good practices risk becoming empty routines that no longer carry life. Today we are invited to examine whether our faith is truly shaped by a daily relationship with Jesus, or whether it has quietly settled into forms that resist being transformed by His living presence. Let’s reflect: Is my faith a living relationship with Jesus that continually renews me from within, or have I reduced it to external practices that no longer allow His new life to reshape my heart?
