2nd Sunday of Lent

Sunday of the Transfiguration

Readings: Genesis 12:1-4; 2 Timothy 1:8-10; Matthew 17:1-9On this Second Sunday of Lent, the Word of God unfolds the meaning of blessing in three movements. In Genesis, Abram is called to leave his land and trust in God’s promise, he is called not only to be blessed, but to become a blessing. Saint Paul reminds us that this blessing is fulfilled and secured in Christ Jesus, who saves us not because of our works, but by His grace given from all eternity. On Mount Tabor, in the Transfiguration, the presence of the Son among us reveals the glory hidden within the journey of faith. The disciples glimpse that everything changes when Christ stands at the center: fear gives way to light, uncertainty to meaning, sacrifice to promise. Lent leads us up this mountain, teaching us that we are called, graced, and transformed by the presence of the Son. To remain with Him is to discover that true blessing is not comfort, but communion, His presence illuminating our path and reshaping our destiny. Let’s reflect: Lent is walking in trustful obedience, allowing the grace of Christ and the transforming presence of the Son to reshape our lives into a true blessing.
