3rd Sunday of Lent
Readings: Exodus 17:3-7; Romans 5:1-2,5-8; John 4:5-16,19-26,39-42
On this Third Sunday of Lent, the Word of God invites us to rediscover the living presence of God in our midst and to respond to Him in a true relationship. In the first reading from Exodus, the people rebel in the desert because they forget that the Lord is already among them; thirst becomes not only physical but spiritual, revealing a heart that doubts God’s closeness. Saint Paul reminds us that, despite our sin, God’s love has already been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, a gift that precedes our merits and assures us of reconciliation. In the Gospel, Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well and begins a dialogue that gradually opens her heart to the living water. Their encounter shows that the relationship with God is not a distant ritual but a sincere dialogue that leads us to worship the Father “in spirit and truth.” Lent calls us to move from complaint to conversation, from forgetfulness to awareness, discovering again that God is already present, waiting to speak with us and to fill our thirst with His living grace. Let’s reflect: Lent is entering into an honest dialogue with God, recognizing His presence in our midst and learning to worship Him in spirit and truth.
