Thursday of the 2nd week of Lent
Gospel: Luke 16:19-31In today’s Gospel, the parable of the rich man and Lazarus reveals a painful truth: the rich man is not condemned for cruelty, but for blindness. Lazarus lies at his door every day, suffering and hungry, yet he remains unseen. The tragedy is not only poverty, but indifference. The Gospel calls us to open our eyes and our hearts, to see the needy who stand quietly at the threshold of our lives and to share what we have. Lent is a time when God sharpens our sensitivity, reminding us that the goods we possess are never meant to isolate us from others but to become instruments of compassion. When we truly see those in need and respond with generosity, we cross the invisible distance that indifference creates and allow mercy to shape our lives. Let’s reflect: Lent is opening our eyes to the needy around us and sharing generously so that compassion replaces indifference.
