Tuesday of the 3rd week of Advent
Reading: Zephaniah 3:1-2, 9-13
As Advent draws us closer to the coming of the Lord, Zephaniah reminds us where salvation truly takes root: not in strength or self-sufficiency, but in humility and trust. God promises deliverance to “a people humble and lowly”, to those who take refuge not in their own power but in the name of the Lord. This remnant does not rely on noise, pride, or domination; it lives quietly before God, attentive and faithful. Advent invites us into this same posture of heart, letting go of arrogance, false security, and self-importance, so that hope may find space to grow. The poor and the humble are able to recognize salvation because they know their need; they wait with open hands rather than clenched fists. In this season, God assures us that His saving work begins wherever humility makes room for Him to dwell. Let’s reflect: Advent is the season in which we learn to become humble and lowly, taking refuge in the name of the Lord so that His promised salvation may take root within us.
