6th day within the octave of Christmas
Reading: 1 John 2:12-17
On this sixth day of the Christmas Octave, Saint John places before us a clear and demanding choice that flows directly from the mystery we celebrate. Christmas reveals the love of the Father made visible in His Son, and this love asks for our wholehearted response. The world with its passing attractions, desires, and illusions cannot offer the fullness that the Child of Bethlehem brings. To love the Father is not to reject creation, but to refuse being possessed by what does not last. Christmas teaches us to reorder our hearts, to let eternal love shape our priorities and free us from attachments that fade. As we gaze upon the Infant Jesus, small yet rich with divine life, we learn that true joy is found not in what we grasp, but in whom we belong to. Choosing the love of the Father is the quiet but decisive way to live Christmas every day. Let’s reflect: Christmas is the call to choose the enduring love of the Father revealed in Christ over the passing attractions of the world, allowing eternal love to shape our lives.
