Our Lady of Lourdes
Gospel: Mark 7:14-23
In today’s Gospel, Jesus turns our attention from what is external to what truly needs healing, the heart. He teaches that impurity does not come from outside, but from within, from selfish thoughts, intentions, and desires that distort our relationships with God and others. On the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, a place marked by healing and purification, this Word takes on special depth. Consecration is not first about external gestures or devotions, but about allowing God to purify our interior life from selfishness, pride, and self-centeredness. Like the pilgrims who come to Lourdes seeking healing, we are invited to bring our hearts honestly before the Lord, trusting His mercy. True consecration happens when we let God cleanse what is hidden within us, so that our lives may become transparent, humble, and open channels of His grace. Let’s reflect: What interior selfishness or hidden intention do I need to place before the Lord today so that my consecration may become a true path of inner purification and healing?
