Wednesday of the 1st week of Lent
Gospel: Luke 11:29-32In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of a generation that keeps asking for signs while failing to recognize the One already present among them. The sign of Jonah is given, yet they remain blind to the greater reality standing before them. The tragedy is not the absence of God, but the inability to perceive Him in simple and concrete ways. During Lent, this warning becomes personal. God is not distant; He is available in His Word, in the sacraments, in daily responsibilities, in the quiet calls to conversion. The worst thing that can happen to us is not suffering or limitation, but spiritual blindness, the failure to see grace when it is near. Lent invites us to purify our vision, to become attentive and humble, so that we may recognize the presence of God where it is already given, without demanding extraordinary signs. Let’s reflect: Lent is purifying our vision to recognize God’s simple and concrete presence already at work in our daily lives.
