Wednesday of the 2nd week of Lent

Gospel: Matthew 20:17-28In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals the true plan of action for every disciple: greatness is measured not by power, but by service. As He speaks of His coming Passion, the disciples are still thinking about positions and status. Yet Christ overturns their expectations: “Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant.” The path of discipleship mirrors the path of the Son of Man, who came not to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. On this day, as we remember Saint Casimir, known for humility and charity despite his royal background, we see that authentic nobility is found in self-giving love. Lent invites us to examine our ambitions and purify them. To follow Christ means to renounce the desire to dominate and to embrace the freedom of serving. In serving others with sincerity and sacrifice, we participate in the very mission of Jesus Himself. Let’s reflect: Lent is embracing the path of humble service, renouncing self-importance in order to follow Christ who gives His life for others.
