Tuesday of the 5th week of Eastertide
Saint Pius V, Pope
Gospel – John 14:27-31
“Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace the world cannot give, this is my gift to you”. What a beautiful gift we have received from Jesus Christ, God became man. This gift is the peace. But this is not any other kind of peace. This peace is qualified by Jesus Himself, “my own peace”. This peace is the peace which Jesus owns in Him. Normally when we think of peace, it’s absence of conflict or absence of fears etc. That is not the kind of peace which Jesus is speaking. That is why He says, “a peace the world cannot give”. Because the peace which Jesus gives is He Himself. He himself is the peace given to us as the gift. The presence of Jesus Christ in our life is our peace. Nothing can trouble our hearts. Nothing can make us afraid. Because Jesus Christ is with us. The prince of this world has no power over Jesus Christ. The Father makes it possible that the son, Jesus Christ, be a gift to the humanity. The gift of peace for us. Let’s reflect: Easter is receiving Jesus Christ, the true peace, in our life.
